How to block websites on Chrome Android
If you frequently surf the web through Chrome on your Android device, you may need to block certain websites to be more productive throughout the day. Remember the “Block Sites” browser extension from the Desktop Instructions earlier in this article? For mobile devices, you can also download this extension. Here’s how to block certain websites on your smartphone via mobile.
- Open the Google Play Store and install the “BlockSite” app.
Android devices come with a native app called Google Play, also known as the Play Store. This is a marketplace where you can download both free and paid apps to your phone. Open Google Play and search for the BlockSite app (all in one word) as shown below. You can also see it here.
- Open the downloaded BlockSite app.
After downloading this app, open it when the icon appears on your phone.
- Enable the app in your phone settings to allow it to block websites.
Open the BlockSite app on your mobile device and tap “Go to Settings” when prompted. The app will go to your phone’s app settings. In order for the app to control your browser and block websites you don’t want to see, you need to activate the app. Find this app in the settings list and tap it. You will be prompted to either “Enable” the app or select “Enable Service”. Tap either one to activate the app.
- Tap the green “+” icon to block the first website or app.
With the BlockSite app active, go back to the app and tap the green “+” icon in the lower right corner of your mobile screen. This will open a page where you can block websites or mobile apps by entering their respective names in the search bar. See screenshot below. Tap “Websites” or “Apps” to set the type of content you want to block.
- Confirm that the site is blocked by tapping the checkmark in the upper right corner.
Enter the full URL of the website you want to block and a green check mark will appear in the upper right corner of the screen. If you tap on it, you have successfully blocked this website. You can edit or remove websites and apps from your block list at any time on the next screen that appears.
If found any issue while processing any step, you can go with third party software Android data recovery tool.
